Youth pro Musica: The Greater Boston Youth Chorus has trained generations of young people in musicianship and choral singing since has appeared with the finest orchestras and choruses in the Boston area and beyond. Student EnviroArt Contest

The 6th Annual Environmental Art Contest is open to students grades K-5 who live or attend school in Newton!

New this year: an after-school program category for teams with students from different grades. The contest is co-sponsored by Green Decade/Newton and other organizations.

The theme is “If I were President, I would ________ to make America greener.”

· Participants may enter as an individual or in teams of 2, 3 or 4 children.
· Artwork may be 2-dimensional posters, sculptures or iMovies/video
· All entries (team or individual) will be judged together by grade level. After-school program entries will be judged separately from grades K-5. read more »

Latin for Kids

Introducing “Latin Summer Boston,” a two-week summer enrichment program that provides students in grades 1-7 a unique chance to learn about Latin and the classical world!

Creative and enthusiastic instructors will provide a wide array of exciting and hands-on activities that introduce students to many varied aspects of classical and conversational Latin, Greco-Roman mythology, and Roman culture and daily life. No prior knowledge of Latin or Classics is required.

The popular LatinSummer programs have been offered many times over the past decade in locations across the Mid-Atlantic, South, and Northeast. LatinSummer Boston will run from 9:00 AM-12:30 PM on weekdays from July 23-August 3, 2012, at The Roxbury Latin School. read more »

Special $6.00 price includes a MOVIE, POPCORN, and SODA. See The Muppets or Alvin & the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. Tickets will be sold on the day of the event at the West Newton Cinema at 1296 Washington St. This is a very popular event and tickets may sell out. Ticket sales will begin at 10:00 AM for the Movie Day on Tuesday and Wednesday with movies starting at 11:00 AM. Registration is now open for the 5th Annual Newton Spelling Bee at the Newton Cultural Center, April 2, 4, 9 & 11, 2012.

This fun and educational spelling bee is open to all Newton children in grades K - 6. Children compete within their own grade level only.

Newton Kindergarten Soccer Registration is open for Spring 2012!

Kindergarten Soccer is a fun and non-competitive soccer program for all Newton boys and girls of kindergarten age and has been a program of the Zervas Elementary PTO since 1993. Games are held on Saturday mornings at Richardson Field in Waban. Join us and meet other Kindergarten families in your neighborhood. Late Registrations are accepted on a space available basis.
