Superintendent David Fleishman and Judy Levin-Charns, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, are hosting an evening meeting for discussion of special education in Newton with NewtonPAC. Also attending will be Dorsey Yearley, the consultant helping to implement the changes at Newton South HS and who will be working with staff to make changes to middle school sped programing. read more »

IEP Meetings: A Workshop for Parents

Effective Communication and the IEP: a Workshop for Parents

Participating in IEP Team meetings can be challenging! This free workshop addresses the communication skills needed by parents participating as members of the IEP Team.

The presentation includes communication skill building techniques to help parents engage effectively in the IEP process through clear concise communication. Participants will learn about pitfalls to avoid and applying best practice strategies to resolve conflict when it occurs.

Newton Community Education offers a variety of cool vacation-week programs for kids. Try Domino Physics or Wicked Wacky Lab Week over February break (or Advanced Domino Physics if you've taken this class before), and explore Marble Machine Madness or Deep Blue Sea over April break. Big Love

Theatre Ink proudly presents Big Love, a play by Charles Mee, directed by Caleb Bromberg and Katherine Norris.

In a radical reenvisioning of the greek classic "The Danaides" by Aeschylus, Charles Mee forces us to reconsider our definitions of love, gender, an happiness. 50 brides-to-be escape their arranged marriages in Greece and seek refuge in a villa on the coast of Italy. They are tracked down by their husbands, and are forced to wage a pseudo-war of the sexes
to preserve their own integrity and happiness. In this conflict between tradition and progression, honor and freedom, the characters struggle to make their voices heard on what it means to be a man or a woman. read more »
