Organization's Mission:
The Office for Volunteer Services (OVS) is a clearinghouse that provides information about volunteer opportunities at local non-profit agencies and city departments. OVS sponsors the "NewtonSERVES Day of Community Service" held annually in April - typically with more than 50 Project Sites around the City to accommodate over 1,000 volunteers. OVS sponsors the City's annual Volunteer Job Fair each fall.
Hours of operation (or meeting times & dates):
Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm, but call 1st! OVS is housed at Newton City Hall within the Human & Volunteer Services division of the City's Department of Health and Human Services.
How to get involved/application guidelines and procedures:
OVS has a Volunteer Application, but you can provide just your contact information so we can keep you posted about events. Our "Volunteer Opporutnities Listing" is a great resource to let you know what non-profit agencies and city deparments need volunteer help. By meeting the volunteer needs of these agencies and departments, we will enhance their ability to serve our greater community, thereby improving neighborhoods and the lives of those that live in them.
