Fund-raiser for the Beatrice Family on Saturday, February 6th
Newton Post 440 at 295 California Street, Newton

Jeff Beatrice, lifelong Newton resident, father of 11 and popular coach of many team sports in Newton, died suddenly in October of 2009 of a heart attack in his Newton home. Jeff was 48 years old and left behind his wife, Elinor and eleven children, seven of whom still live at home. Unfortunately, at the time the house was in foreclosure and Jeff had no life insurance. Jeff Beatrice was a kind, big-hearted man who loved his community and gave generously of his time and energies to coaching hundreds of boys and girls in Newton.

The response to his death has been overwhelming. The Newton community has rallied to help this family save their home. Individuals stepped up and coordinated two successful community fund-raisers; a Sports-a-Thon on Veterans Day and a dinner-dance at the Newton Elks, along with many other individual gifts have contributed to a fund established at the Village Bank in Auburndale.

We have scheduled what should be the final fund-raiser for the Beatrice Family on Saturday, February 6th at the Newton Post 440 at 295 California Street, Newton.

We have an ambitious multi-station food fest planned, with some exciting dining options including sushi, beef tenderloin, lobster ravioli, and some fantastic desserts. The fun begins at 6:30 and will include a silent and live auction, a brief thank you ceremony to the many generous individuals who gave of their time and their hearts to help us achieve this great victory, and will feature performances by several local music groups, DJ, dancing, raffles, general hullabaloo and merry-making and a celebration of the life of Jeff Beatrice. It will be the feel-good event of the winter, and should bring a ray of summer sun to all who attend. And besides no one will be interested in the Super Bowl to be played the next day!
