New Initiative at Newton North: “NewtonWorks”

Newton North is launching a new initiative to help students more easily access jobs, internships and community service in and around Newton. We are doing this through a partnership with TeenLife Boston, a media company that helps schools and students connect to “opportunities beyond school.”

With TeenLife Boston’s assistance, we will be creating our own customized web-based tool that will allow us to develop a database of work-related opportunities for our students. We are calling this system “NewtonWorks.” Students will be able to use NewtonWorks to create personal profiles, upload resumes and cover letters, search for opportunities that match their interests and skills, apply online and record their impressions. We are piloting the program this spring and upon evaluation, will determine if NewtonWorks is something we can continue to use in the future.

We are hosting an information session for students interested trying out NewtonWorks (please see below for a copy of our student advertisement).
If you have questions, feel free to contact Molly Gadenz, Coordinator of Work-Study and Cooperative Ed., at (617) 559-6251 or molly_gadenz@newton.k12.ma.us OR Belma Johnson, Career Development Counselor at (617) 559-6232 belma_Johnson@newton.k12.ma.us
