Newton Community Ed classes for High Schoolers

Registration is now underway for fall classes through Newton Community Education, and we have lots for offer high school students. For the college bound we offer SAT prep classes for the Verbal and Math SAT 1 tests. We also offer a College Essay Writing class and two new talks for college-bound kids with special needs and/or special interests: So you think you can Sing, Dance, Act, or Paint in College, for kids considering careers in the arts, and Post-secondary and College Options for Students with Learning Differences. Please join us for these great talks with our fabulous, knowledgable presenters. Driver's Ed & SAT Prep classes through NCE

Newton Community Ed offers affordable test prep classes for the SAT Tests. This winter we have Math review classes on Monday afternoons and Verbal review classes on Wednesday afternoons. Both will be held at South and will run for four weeks: Math starts on January 31 and Verbal on February 2.

We are offering two afternoon Driver's Ed classes this winter; you can register for Monday and Wednesday afternoons at North, or Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at South. We will also have week-long intensive classes at the Newton Community Service Center's Teen Center over February and April break. read more »

Celebrate Newton Artists - Dec 5

December 5, 2010 10 to 4 pm Newton South High School, 140 Brandeis Road, Newton Please join us in celebrating Newton artists at the 9th annual Celebrate Newton arts and crafts fair. This is a great event for the entire family to enjoy! Celebrate Newton is an annual juried fair that honors the work of outstanding artisans who are residents of Newton or are in some other way connected to the city. Over 50 artisans will display and sell their work at the fair; they include weavers, jewelers, quilters, potters, printers, photographers and more. This citywide event is sponsored by Newton Community Education. Proceeds will benefit NCE, a self-sustaining arm of Newton Public Schools, which offers a large variety of classes for both children and adults. read more »

Newton Community Education is pleased to announce an evening with best-selling author, Dan Goleman, on April 28 at 7:00 pm. Author of Emotional Intelligence, which was on the NY Times best seller list for a year and a half; with more than 5,000,000 copies in print worldwide in 30 languages, Dan will introduce his new book, Ecological Intelligence: The Hidden Impacts of What We Buy. In this talk Dan will reveal the hidden environmental consequences of what we make and buy, and show how new market forces can drive changes essential to helping save our planet. Talk will be held at Oak Hill Middle School. This talk sets off a 4-speaker series throughout May.
