Newton residents can drop off their unused or expired medi-cations for safe disposal at the Newton Police Department (1321 Washington St, open 24/7). Please note that this drop- off location accepts only solid medications, no liquids or sharps. Sharps should be taken to the Rumford Ave Re-source Recovery Center (115 Rumford Ave).
The Newton Senior Center(345 Walnut St., Newtonville) now has a drop-off box for re-chargeable batteries and cellphones! Please drop them off in the marked box at the Front Desk. The Department of Public Works will dispose of them properly. Alkaline batteries can be disposed of in the regular trash. We also have a box for button batteries at the Front Desk.
