July 20: Featured Restaurant: Super Dough Pizza
Super Dough Pizza – Newton Upper Falls
Some of the best pizza in Newton isn’t made in a high-end wood-fired oven. It’s created in a trailer fitted out as a mobile kitchen in front of the Upper Falls Liquor Store on Needham Street. Boston Chef Ian Maschal started Slow Dough Pizza during the pandemic, and it quickly caught the attention of local foodies, including Boston Magazine food writer, Jacqueline Cain. Recently renamed “Super Dough,” Maschal has perfected artisan sourdough pizzas that, somehow, manage to be airy, yet crunchy and sturdy. His sauces are perfection and pies feature premium local and seasonal ingredients.
Ordering this week is different from other weeks. ALL orders must be phoned in in advance—between noon – 7 PM on July 19th. Ian will try to accommodate times between 11:30-1:30, and if one time slot is filled he’ll find another that works for you. On the menu will be his standard pizzas as well as seasonal specials. Pizza is sold by the pie (no slices), so you may want to order with a friend or plan to bring some home for dinner. Oh, and since Ian tops out at 80 pizzas for the pop-up, plan to call him as soon as he begins accepting orders: 617-548-1098.
