Archery Instruction join On the Mark Archery for a 4 week archery instruction class. Classes are open to youth ages 9 and older and adults. Sundays 1/21-2/11 at Newton South High School or Saturdays 3/2 – 3/23 at Cabot Elementary School
Badminton Instruction learn the skills to play badminton. Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes are offered for youth in grades 2 and above as well as teens and adults. Sundays 1/7-2/11 at Newton South High School and Saturdays 3/2 – 4/6 at Cabot Elementary School.
Ice Skating Lessons with Bay State Skating School multiple sessions are offered throughout the Fall and Winter for youth ages 4-18 at rinks in Cleveland Circle, Newton/Brighton, Waltham and West Roxbury. New sessions are starting in January.
Indoor Lacrosse – Join Scoops for their indoor lacrosse programs. 3 different options are available. Scoops is offered for boys and girls ages 3 – 8, Halos is offered for girls in grades 1 – 4, and Ballerz is offered for boys in grades 1-4. All classes run on Sundays and start on January 7th.
Orienteering Programs join our beginner skill development classes to improve your orienteering skills. Separate classes will focus on map scale, pace counting, and using a compass with a map; understanding control features; and developing off trail skills. Participants must have a basic understanding of orienteering in order to join.
Pickleball Lessons join us for indoor pickleball lessons at Lower Falls Community Center or Pellegrini Park. Lessons are offered for Level 1, Level 2 and Level 2A.
Winter and Spring Aquatics recreational swim and lifeguarding classes are offered indoors at the Newton North High School pool.
2024 Badminton Tournament for youth and adults on February 24 & 25. Youth divisions are open to beginners and intermediate level players, and open divisions offered for B and C level players ages 14 and older.
Time for Partners 18 mo. – 4 years old with Adult. Music, creative movement, and art projects with experienced teachers. Learning is fun, the projects enriching, and the new friends help build self-confidence and sharing skills in young children. Located at City Hall War Memorial. Daily rates are available.
Over 55 Open House – Discover new fitness classes that fit your needs, schedule and expectations. Join a trial class for free in the month of January. Call Nancy Scammon to register at 617-796-1506.
New Over 55 Programs – join the Power Hour Band Workout to learn how to strengthen major muscle groups using resistance bands and your own body weight with seated and standing exercises.
Over 55 Programs for adults ages 55 and over including Ballet Fitness, Eccentric Release Workout, Strength Building, Over ’55 Basketball, Bingo, Body Rolling, Line Dancing, Tai Yo Ba, and MORE. See everything that is being offered online.
Newton South Indoor Recreation Complex – sign up for kids tennis, badminton instruction, archery and walking on the indoor track. Programs run on Sundays in January and February and start on January 7th.
February Specialty Camp for grades K – 6 at Lower Falls Community Center. Morning specialty camps run from 8:30 – 11:30 am and afternoon camps run 12:30 – 3:30 pm. Extended Day is available until 5:30 pm. Programs run February 20 – 23.
February Viking Sports Camp for ages 7 – 12 at Pellegrini Park. Join the Vikings multi-sports camp and play a variety of sports each day February 20 – 23.
