Fill your summer with music, song writing, recording, music video production and more at Plugged In Band Program, Needham Center.

Plugged In Band Program, located in Needham Center, gives kids (Grades 6-12), at any skill level, the opportunity to have fun with music this summer – Music That Matters: Summer Day CampSummer Evening Band Classes, or Private Music Lessons. Play your favorites or discover new music, new instruments and make new friends.

“Making music—through singing or playing an instrument in school, in a band, or with friends—can connect you with a community of people who share a common interest. And even if you don’t play or sing, you can also find people who share your love for a particular band or type of music. Feeling a sense of belonging to something larger than yourself is a proven way to improve mental health” – JED Foundation

Music That Matters: Summer Day Camp is a fun-filled two-week exploration of what it takes to be in a band, write and produce a song, and film a music video. Professional teaching staff lead campers through each step of the creative process. During the session, students take a trip to experience busking in Harvard Square, and they finish off the session with a live community performance.

Music That Matters Session dates are as follows: Session 1: July 8- July 19 and Session 2: July 22- August 2. Sign up is available for either session, or both.

Summer Evening Band Classes is a 4-week session for kids, teens, twenty-somethings, and adults to rock out in a band, grouped by age, skill, and preferred musical style. Bands jam together at weekly practices and develop a setlist of songs to perform live.

Summer Evening Band Classes are held July 8 – August 2.

Both programs culminate in an all-community benefit concert, in which students perform live to raise funds for a charity of their choice. The charities are chosen through a democratic process where students nominate and vote to determine the beneficiary of the concert proceeds.

Keep your music skills sharp over the summer or learn a new instrument through our Private Lessons.
