Council on Aging (Newton COA) released a Statement of Support In 2016 – 2017, the City Council is reviewing proposed changes to the Accessory Apartment ordinance. In January, Newton’sCOA stated, “We particularly support this proposal for the possibilities it offers to reduce isolation, enable multigenerationalfamilies to co-habitate in the same house, increase safety by ensuring that accessory apartments meet fire and constructionsafety codes and, in some cases, provide additional income sothat seniors can stay in their Newton homes.” Visit www.newtonma.gov/accessoryapartments or call 617-796-1120 for information.
