Over $2,500. was raised from book sales!

The Creative Arts and Sciences Committee at Newton Public Schools hosted their Authorfest celebration on April 12! The all-day event brought 26 authors and illustrators to 18 elementary schools and culminated in the book fair at Cabot Elementary. It was quite a scene — authors were stationed in the library to chat with excited young readers and sign their books and bookmarks.

Children and families lined up to purchase books at the book tables we stocked full of excellent books– knowing that we are donating 20% of all Authorfest sales (preorder and at the bookfair) back to Creative Arts and Sciences to support their work in the future. So far, we have raised over $2,500!!

Many thanks to the Creative Arts and Sciences team, the Newton Public Schools Foundation, the authors and illustrators who presented, the families and kids who attended, and all the NPS teachers, librarians, staff, the Newtonville Books staff who handled the book sales with aplomb who worked to make this magical event happen.
