Debate Spaces is a local nonprofit cofounded by two award-winning college debaters which teaches middle schoolers the skills of public speaking and debate as a means to get to know their peers and find their voices.  Their Director of Academies, Courtney Foster, is a Newton Public Schools alum and was an accomplished member of the Newton South Speech and Debate Team, traveling to compete at Columbia, Yale, and Harvard Universities.
Debate Spaces runs a half day Academy once per semester for middle school students who are interested in public speaking and civic engagement.  Courtney leads the Academy along with co-founder Matt Summers, the former #1 debater in the U.S. and a current Harvard Law student.  Debate Spaces has historically hosted students from Newton at their Academies, and invite all to join this fall, no experience necessary!
The next date for the Debate Spaces Academy is Saturday, November 23rd from 10:00-2:30pm at Suffolk University.  Pizza lunch included!
