Local beekeeper Sean Sanker, who keeps hives at Newton Community Farm, will lead this class in a discussion of beekeeping basics. He will explain the general process of keeping bees and the equipment needed as well as interesting bee facts.
Sean has been keeping bees as a hobby since 2013. He is a Newton resident and the founder of Bay State IT, an information technology company that services the biotech industry.

Newton Community Farm follows MA and City of Newton protocols to keep our staff, students, volunteers, and the communtity as safe as possible.
As these protocols are constantly evolving, we will update our requirements as needed as we get closer to the start of classes.
Parking
This class takes place in-person at Newton Community Farm, 303 Nahanton Street, Newton, MA 02459. Please park on Winchester Street (near the red farm stand) and walk down the lane past the chickens to the big red barn. You’ll see us set up on the deck. If the weather is bad, the class will be held in the barn. Please do NOT park in the farm driveway as we have farm vehicles coming and going.
