History Book Club-Empire of Cotton

March 28 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Empire of Cotton

The club meets to discuss Empire of Cotton by Sven Beckert, which tells the history of the cotton industry. Read the book in advance and join the discussion, which is free and open to all.

This is the story of the cotton industry, representing the first step in the development of the modern industrial economy and the constant struggle between slaves and planters, merchants and statesmen, farmers and merchants, and workers and factory owners. We hope to see you at our discussion. For information, please call 617-796-1450.

See the list of books that the History Book Club has read from 2008-2018.
