Gallery Tour and Discussion on the History of Violence

I am That Girl

In collaboration with the Boston College chapter of the I Am That Girl, a movement inspiring girls to be, love, and express exactly who they are, the Museum welcomes visitors to explore “Carrie Mae Weems: Strategies of Engagement” with curator and professor Robin Lydenberg and professor Régine Michelle Jean-Charles followed by a moderated discussion on themes pertaining to violence, race, and gender.

Robin Lydenberg is associate professor in the English department at Boston College. She has been teaching visual culture for many years, focusing in particular on representations of gender, race and class. Régine Michelle Jean-Charles is associate professor of Romance languages and literatures and African and African Diaspora studies at Boston College. She is the author of “Conflict Bodies: The Politics of Rape Representation in the Francophone Imaginary” and a board member of A Long Walk Home.
