History Book Club Free Discussions!

September 19 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Historic Newton’s History Book Club meets regularly to discuss books about history. Meetings are free and open to all. Simply read the designated book in advance and come prepared to discuss it at the meeting. To receive notifications, send your name and email address to social@historicnewton.org.

See the list of books that the History Book Club has read from 2008-2018.

The next meeting takes place Thursday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jackson Homestead to discuss Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom by David W. Blight. This biography of Douglass won the Pulitzer, Bancroft and Parkman prizes. The New York Times described it as a “comprehensive, scholarly, sober” account of a fascinating, brilliant man whose life “spanned the upheavals of the 19th century”.

No advance reservations are needed. We hope to see you at our discussion. For information, please call 617-796-1450.
