March of the Falsettos

Newton South’s South Stage will present March of the Falsettos at 7:30PM on February 8, 9 and 10 at Newton South HS (140 Brandeis Road). Tickets are available online.

Directed by Ben Miner NSHS ’24 with musical direction by Brendan Qi, this one-act musical by William Finn follows Marvin and his journey in search of self-understanding, inner peace, and a life with a “happily ever after” ending. His extended family consists of ex-wife Trina, son Jason, male lover Whizzer Brown, and psychiatrist Mendel, who complicates matters by becoming involved with Trina. The musical explores themes of family, Judaism, Queerness, and love.

We want a “Standing O” on our shows!

In order to get a Gender Parity  “Standing O” designation, a production must meet three of five criteria:

For March of the Falsettos:

  • No. Have a woman director
  • No. Have a woman playwright

  • No. Employ at least a 50 percent woman cast

  • YES! Employ at least 50 percent woman design team.

  • No. Tell a woman-centered story.
