Museum Store Sunday and Meet the Makers!

December 1 @ 10:30 am - 3:00 pm

Meet the Makers brings Newton artists to the Jackson Homestead and the Durant-Kenrick House on Sunday, December 1 to exhibit and sell their work. This free, family-friendly program, includes admission to both museums.

https://i0.wp.com/www.newtonma.gov/images/HistoricNewton/Events/2019/_MSS_Logo_Update_BlueWhite.jpg?w=696December 1 is also Museum Store Sunday, an international day for museum stores to highlight their quality gifts. Get a head start on your holiday shopping at the museum stores at the Jackson Homestead and the Durant-Kenrick House from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All museum shop merchandise is discounted.

The day’s events include:

  • Artists display their work at Jackson Homestead from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Authors visit from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
  • At the Durant-Kenrick House from 10:30 a.m. to noon, join us for “Art, Spirituality and The Power of Creativity,” a discussion with Newton artists and authors about the spiritual tones that often guide their creativity. How do they combine personal expression with making a larger cultural statement in their work? What themes and values do they hope to communicate? Historic Newton partners with NewCity Church to host and moderate this inclusive conversation.
  • From 1 to 3 p.m., the Durant-Kenrick House will feature local authors and artists, plus the MADE NEW Cafe + Shoppe carrying merchandise from Eurasia Coffee and Tea and CAUSEGEAR, MADE FREE, and Trades of Hope brands.
