Why pollinator gardens?  Gardens with native plants can be both beautiful and functional at sustaining our pollinators.  Our environment is at risk because of precipitous declines in native plants and the insects, birds, and other animals that depend on those plants.

There has been tremendous interest in how to create a pollinator garden and what plants to use there.  Check out the Newton Pollinator Toolkit which is a great guide to what plants work for various conditions in the Newton area.  If you want to see these plants in action, there have been a number of demonstration pollinator gardens planted  – notably at City Hall and more recently at Cold Spring Park – both on the tour.   Newton Conservators has featured many informative and popular webinars on this topic and recordings of these videos can be found on our YouTube channel.

Maybe you have a great pollinator garden in Newton that you would like to show off?  Let us know by emailing  tkuklinski@aol.com and perhaps we can feature your garden in the future!

The tour is sponsored by the Newton Community Pollinator Project in conjunction with the Newton ConservatorsNewton Parks Recreation and Culture DepartmentGreen NewtonFriends of Cold Spring ParkFriends of Wellington Park, and the Mystic Charles Pollinator Pathways Group.
