Play Dramatizes 19th Century Philanthropist
June 8 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
An event every day that begins at 6:30 pm, repeating until June 9, 2019
In the turmoil and strife that followed the U.S. Civil War, a family newspaper that started in Boston, The Youth’s Companion, was a welcome touchstone in half a million homes across the nation. The paper not only promoted patriotism and temperance but educated and enlightened its readers about events, people, and places both near and far. Moreover, reclusive publisher Daniel Sharp Ford quietly used his wealth to help thousands of disadvantaged people. In Good Company’s performance of “None but The Best” reveals the true story of a man whose generosity left its mark across Boston, New England, and the nation.
