Prayers for the Path – A Concert featuring Ariel Hendelman and Marni Loffman

February 25 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Join us for an afternoon of soul medicine music.

Ariel Yisraelah Hendelman is the Spiritual Leader of B’nai Or of Boston, a Jewish Renewal community, and a Rabbinic student with the Aleph Ordination Program. Her debut album, Prayers for Fire & Water, was released in September and weaves folky Americana with devotional niggunim, drawing from the Kiddush Levana ritual (the Santification of the New Moon) as well as the story of Yaakov’s dream of the ladder. And, of course, 40 years of wandering through the wilderness of life. Ariel leads retreats around the Northeastern US, centering on chant, meditation, and dreamwork. Her writing can be found in Ayin Press and Doubleblind Magazine.

Marni Loffman (they/them) is a Jewish composer, vocalist, educator, and ritual leader with over seven years of experience in informal Jewish education and 15 years in musical performance, prayer leadership, and songwriting. Marni’s musical work emerges from multi-denominational Ashkenazi liturgical roots and is culturally influenced by a lifetime of saturation in varied American and world genres. Their debut album, the long short path, combines rabbinic poetry and prose with original lyrics, inspired melodically by Ashkenazi Nusach and by the jazz, indie folk, pop, and international traditions of their childhood and current musical relationships.

The concert will consist of two sets with an intermission in the middle. Light refreshments will be available for suggested donation during intermission.

A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase at the door for $36.
