October 22 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Part scavenger hunt, part tag, and a whole lot of awesome! Join us for this Halloween-themed orienteering adventure.
Teams of 2 – 5 people will search the woods to find as many checkpoints as they can in 60 minutes. The first team back that has found all the checkpoints (or the team with the most checkpoints after 60 minutes) wins. But watch out, vampires are out looking for teams to tag. If you get tagged by a vampire you have to surrender your checkpoint card to the vampire and then you become a vampire. The good news is that you can then find a different team to tag and take their checkpoint card, making that new team the vampire and allowing you to continue in the game. Keep an eye out for garlic necklaces that will allow you to ward off the vampires as you move to your next checkpoint.
Costume-wearing is encouraged. Awards will be given to teams with the best costumes.
Family Friendly Vampire-O: Great for all ages. Strollers and wagons are welcome. Each family will receive a prize. The Family Friendly Vampire-O will stay in the Auburndale Cove area and controls will be located near trails. Families must have at least 1 adult as part of their team. Families with more than 5 people should register as 2 teams. Register 1 adult and list the other family members in the questions section when you go to check out.
Vampire-O: For kids and adults ages 11 and older. This Vampire-O will use all of Auburndale Park, including Auburndale Cove down to Lyons Field. Controls will be located on and off trails. One member of each team should have a cell phone. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams. When checking out, each person must register and pay individually for the regular Vampire-O and then list their teammates in the questions section.
