Newton Poetry Festival

Poetry is always in bloom in Newton, Massachusetts – on sidewalks, in parks, and through a variety of events and public readings.

As spring nears, Poetry Newton invites you to celebrate renewal and the power of poetry by submitting your own original haiku to the Haiku Newton Poetry Contest 2022.

A panel of judges will choose 20 winning haiku, which will be printed on beautiful lawn signs. (See more details in the section below.)

This project is generously sponsored by the Newton Cultural Council, Mass. Cultural Council, and Newton Community Pride.

If you’ve never written haiku, you can find many resources online. Then let your creativity, your hope, and your joy blossom.

April is National Poetry Month and Newton is celebrating by inviting us all to submit an original haiku poem. This project, called Poetry Newtonis organized by Newton Poets Grey Held and Elizabeth Lund in partnership with the City of Newton’s Cultural Development staff. Selected Haiku will be printed on colorful lawn signs and placed along public walkways throughout Newton for all to enjoy during April.

See details here and submit your Haiku by next Thursday, March 30.
